Levetiracetam
If a loading dose is required:
40mg/kg (maximum 3g) 1,2
Administration
By intravenous infusion over 5 minutes into a large vein1,2,4.
Dilution
Levetiracetam should be diluted to a maximum of 50mg/ml with sodium chloride 0.9%1,2,4.

Treatment:
Child 0 months – 18 years body weight <50kg: 10mg/kg/dose3 bd increase every 2 weeks by 10mg/kg/dose, as tolerated, to a maximum of 30mg/kg/dose twice daily. Child 12 – 18 years and body weight >50kg:
500mg bd3, increase every 2 weeks by 500mg b
